Swimming Club this week saw a "Flop-Off" for the belly flop winner as younger swimmers clamoured to be part of the competition.
This left seven winners from each of the backstroke heats whom, then had a "Flop-Off".
Rohan Toole led the way in the first heat quickly followed by Sam Flannery, Beatrice Patterson, Dean Wilson, Maddison Vitnell, Brydon Hughes and Alicia Smith in the last heat, in which an unnamed IGA owner's son chickened out!
In a very close contest, Alicia Smith finished with the loudest crack, biggest splash and the sorest abs.
Improvement times are harder to come by as the competition increases in the 33 metres freestyle the 'spoon' race, although Amelia Holmes bettered her time in this by a whopping eight seconds.
James Russell took out the spoon final in a time of 30 seconds, a good achievement for his first year in swimming club.
Kate Beath removed three seconds from her 33 metres back time while Max Wensley improved his 33 metres breaststroke time by four seconds.
In the 66 metres BBB (the swimmers choice of backstroke, breaststroke or butterfly) times continued to quicken as Wallace Stranger removed nine seconds from his 66 metres fly while Catherine Davis removed nine seconds from her 66 metres breaststroke time.
Curtis Hughes chopped a further four seconds from his 66 metres breaststroke before Rohan Toole massacred his former time by a massive 25 seconds - belly flop trials must make Rohan swim faster.
Sam Flannery continued to improve as she knocked six seconds off her 33 metres backstroke time, before backing up and taking 16 seconds off her 66 metres breaststroke time.
Ellen Blair and Adelaide Patterson also improved their 66 metres breaststroke times by 10 and four seconds respectively.
100 metres freestyle times also tumbled as Rohan Toole dropped his time by 19 seconds while Beatrice Patterson and Tim Middleton removed 17 seconds from their previous times.
Pip Johnson bettered her time by 15 seconds while Madison Vitnell continued her improvement by 16 seconds over the three laps.
Dan Middleton and Brydon Hughes both bettered their old marks by a respectable nine seconds.
The relay once again saw changeovers perfect as all six lanes were finished with the winners led off by Alicia Smith, followed by Josh Flannery, Sam Flannery, Lucy Harrison and Dean Wilson before Wallace Stranger powered home on the last lap.
Swimming has a two wee break and starts again on Friday January 5 although there will be swimming training this week on Tuesday and Thursday as usual, before Debbie takes a two week break.
