Freestyle championships lead swim club program

Freestyle Championships led the programme at swimming Club on Friday night, with the winners announced at presentation night at the end of March.

In the 33m freestyle Olivia McNamara was fastest with a three second improvement, while Kylie Dunn and Jordan Petty improved their times by two seconds.

Jacob Anderson, Sam Willson, Amelia Hickman, Wade Kinsela and Alex Flannery all took a second from their best times.

In the spoon semi Xavier Lynch bettered his time by three seconds and as such swam himself out of a final spot.

Julia Wright and Brocke Harvey-Dale swam a second faster than before and made the spoon final.

The final was a very close with only half a second separating first and second.

Julia Wright improved her time by one second but it was Mitchell Stanley who held Julia off and won the spoon as he dropped his best time by 2 seconds. It now stands at 30 seconds.

In the 33m butterfly Tom Robson bettered his time by 2 seconds while Joe Coady, Stewart Russell, Jossie Lynch, Cassie Naylor and Dan Middleton dropped a second from their personal bests.

Finbar Smyth swam the back stroke for the first time in quite a while as he smashed his time by 20 seconds while Skye Robson took 5 seconds from her time.

Lara Hawker, Lucy Hickman, Brocke Harvey-Dale and Tim Middleton took a second from their times.

In the lap of breaststroke Caleb Giger and Hudson Izzard smashed their times by 5 seconds while Zali Dunn and Abbey Slattery reduced their PB’s by 3 seconds.

Ellen Blair and Charlotte Balcomb swam two seconds faster than before while Wade Kinsela, Amelia Holmes, Kylie Dunn and Jordan Petty shortened their times by a second.

In the 66BBB Xavier Lynch shattered his time by 22 seconds while Charlotte Balcomb knocked 13 seconds from her time and Riley Mitchell and Harry Jeffrey took 11 seconds off their times.

Zali Dunn backed up her performance in the 33m breaststroke with a 12 second smashing of her time in the two laps of the same stroke.

Amelia Hickman improved her 66 breaststroke time by 9 seconds before Chris Kinsela and Jordan Petty took 6 seconds off their times.

Peter McNamara removed 5 seconds off his time while Peta Edwards improved her time by 4 seconds and Sam Willson, Samantha Flannery and Skye Robson took 3 seconds from their times.

The relay featured 60 swimmers, 6 lanes of 10 swimmers, and lane one came out in front nearly right on their handicapped time.

Taking home ribbons were Xavier Lynch, Caitlin Brand, Dan Friend, Julia Stanley, Lucy Hickman, Wesley Blair, Ellen Blair, Rohan Toole, Alicia Earsman and Tim Middleton.

Don’t forget it’s breaststroke championships this week so sign the beginning of the book and be ready on Friday.

At the Swimming Club Carnival on Sunday there were 9 clubs represented and it was a successful day of swimming for all.

Coming out on top in the pointscore was City of Orange club with 187 points while Cowra and Canowindra were neck and neck throughout the day.

Cowra just came out on top 132pts – 129pts.

Thanks to Belubula Butchery, Canowindra Pharmacy and Gaskill Greens for raffle donations, while thanks go to Col Rankin who donated bottled water for the officials on the day.

Steve Flannery won the hamper, Sue Townsend and Rhianna Peters won the meat vouchers.
