Canowindra Swimming Club had another successful Friday night with 66 swimmers lined up for the 33m freestyle or spoon.
The tone was set in the first heat as Angus Andrews must have had a shark in the lane behind him as he lowered his time by a massive 14 seconds.
While Claire Wright lowered her time by six seconds both of these swimmers smashed the allowable 2 second improvement, a major rule of the spoon event.
The spoon semis threw up more improvers as Lachlan Balcombe and Riley Mitchell dropped their times by 2 seconds.
In the spoon final it was a close race with only one of the six swimmers ever having won a spoon before, but in a close finish Lachlan Balcombe took another two seconds off his time and touched a fraction of a second ahead of Alicia Earsman who took a second off her PB.
Riley Mitchell also dropped his 33m breaststroke time by eight seconds while Amelia Holes lowered her breaststroke time by five seconds.
Tim Wythes led the way in the lap of backstroke as he took three seconds from his best time while Charlotte Balcomb and Brocke Harvey-Dale lowered their times by two seconds.
Amara Flannery showed her versatility as she swam her lap of butterfly four seconds faster than before while Josh Flannery, Amy Wythes and Brocke Harvey-Dale remover a second from their best times.
Regan Hughes, Amara Flannery and Amelia Holmes took six seconds from their two laps of breaststroke while Will Fagan, Georgia Balcomb removed five seconds from their PBs.
Harry Jeffrey smashed his 66m freestyle time with a seven second improvement while Brocke Harvey-Dale lowered her time by two seconds
As usual the relay finished the night and we had six lanes of seven swimmers and there was only a fingernail in the finish as Josh Trayhurn anchored the relay and touched just ahead of Tim Wythes.
Swimming with Josh in the winning team was Laura Flannery, Josh Middleton, Eloise Beath, Jacob Anderson, Rohan Toole, and Hannah Roth.
This week we have the medley, which will be swum first so don’t be late, the four 33s and a 66mBBBF.
Also this week is the nominations of Club Captains so if you know a senior male or female swimmer you would like to elect, write them in the book and be ready for election on Friday 18th December..
Also all business houses in Canowindra the Business House relay will be run again next year at the Swim Club Carnival on Sunday 31st January 2010 at about 1:45- 2pm.
