The final night of swimming club saw a larger roll up of swimmers as they all got in their final swim and relay of the season.
In the spoon Talitha Stanley swam a 3 second PB in her 33m freestyle heat and Patrick Hickman did the same thing in the semi final. Alas too fast for a final swim.
Max Coady took 2 seconds off his time while Nicholas Jeffrey, Finbar Smyth and Lucas Ellis all lowered their times by 1 second.
In the final Spoon awarded for the season Amelia Holmes completed her mission of winning a spoon as she blasted her way down the pool 2 seconds faster than before and took out the spoon in a personal best time of 26 seconds. [Training does pay off!!]
Leading the way in the 33m breaststroke was Angus Fisher who smashed his time by 5 seconds before Angus Andrews and Amelia Holmes lowered their times by 2 seconds. One second improvements came from Talitha Stanley, Lara Hawker, Harry Jeffrey, and Alex Flannery.
In the 33m backstroke Harry Jeffrey, Angus Andrews and Finbar Smyth all improved their times by one second. A flop off was held in the backstroke as all previous winners of the belly flop had a competition to decide the trophy winner at Presentation Night next week. If you want to find out who it was come to Presentation night next week!!
By the time the 33m butterfly came around all swimmers must have been too tired as their times didn’t change, either that or they were too sore from the flop off. The last relay took place with 48 swimmers and a huge vote of thanks go to Amelia Hickman who got out of her warm clothes and swam in the relay with no complaint.
The winning relay team was lane 1 and it was a family affair as Amara Flannery, Laura Flannery and Alex Flannery were all in the winning team. Joining them were Lucas Ellis, Talitha Stanley, Will Wright, Angus Andrews and bringing the team home Ellis Hawker.
Congratulations to all swimmers for the season and remember to turn up for Presentation Night this Friday where trophies will be handed out and the season celebrated with a barbecue. A gold coin donation is asked for the barbecue and swimmers may swim if they want to although there is no organised swimming.
