Thanks to all swimmers who got to the end of swimming for swimming club as the last Friday saw the final championships decided as the 400m freestyle was run as well as a Learn to Swim Cup final.
In the spoon Wade Kinsela improved his time by four seconds while Nick Jeffrey and Alex Flannery took three seconds from their times and as such were unable to progress to the semis as they had swum too fast.
Talitha Stanley, Finbar Smyth and Sara Naylor took two seconds from their times and qualified for the semis.
In the semi Finbar took another second from his time and swam into his second final in two weeks.
It was a close final with less than 2 seconds separating all six swimmers.
Lachlan Balcombe swam the fastest as he touched in a time of 35 seconds and took home his second spoon of the year.
In the 33m backstroke Charlotte Balcomb took 6 seconds from her time while Brooke Kinsela and Abbey Slattery had four second improvements in their times.
Harry Jeffrey removed three seconds from his PB while Julia Stanley and Stewart Russell improved their times by one second.
In the final backstroke heat the belly flop was contested again.
Regan Hughes did his usual belly-reddening belly flop with pike effort, but this time he was upstaged by Alicia Earsman, whose crack as she hit the water would have given her a very sore belly for the rest of the night.
Sam Coady showed promise for next year as he took 4 seconds off his breaststroke time, closely followed by while Julia Stanley took 3 seconds off her PB.
Millie Balcomb, Talitha Stanley, Brooke Kinsela, Hudson Izzard, Meg Austin and Amelia Holmes all removed 2 seconds from their best times.
Improvers were a bit harder to find in the fly as swimmers were getting cold and tired, however Joanna Balcombe chopped 4 seconds from her time while Julia Stanley and Stewart Russell lowered their times by a second.
Next week is Presentation night at the pool where all the swimmers efforts for the year are rewarded with trophies for championship winners in all strokes and distances, while accumulative point score winners over the season are announced.
So be there at 6pm as Canowindra Swimming Club celebrates a successful 2009/10 season and finishes up with a sausage sizzle after presentations.
