Canowindra Swimming Club held their annual presentation night and AGM in late March and here is the report which is better late than never.
Due to a slight technical hitch the pointscore winners were not presented but will be presented at school assemblies early next term.
Eight years and under pointscore winners were Joe Coady and Caitlin Brand while Harry Jeffrey and Charlotte Balcomb were the runners up.
Nine / ten years pointscore winners were Sam Willson and Cassie Naylor while Will Fagan and Georgia Balcomb were the runners up.
Josh Flannery and Alicia Earsman took out the 11/12 years pointscore with Regan Hughes and Erica Blanch gaining the runners up trophies.
Samantha Flannery and Jack Knight took out the 13/14 years pointscore with Stewart Russell and Madison filling the runners up positions.
Elijah Beath and Peta Edwards took out the top award in the 15/16 years category closely followed by Brydon Hughes and Gemma White.
In the over 16 years Nigel Knight and Alison Wythes took out the top honours while Tony Beath and Jodie Ward were the runners up.
Improvers pointscore overall went to Rosie Beath while Charlotte Balcomb was the runner up and in a twist which shows the girls versatility and dedication Rosie and Charlotte also took out the BBB Improvers pointscore.
The Learn to Swim cup for swimmers who learnt to swim over this season the overall winner was Julia Wright while the handicap winner was Harry Jeffrey.
The championships in the strokes were awarded next and Joe Coady took out the 8 years boys 33m freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly championships while Skye Robson took out the girls 33m freestyle and Amelia Hickman took out the breaststroke and backstroke titles.
In the 9/10 years championships Matt Harrison won the freestyle, backstroke and butterfly championships while Will Fagan prevented the clean sweep as he took out the 9/10 years breaststroke championship.
In the 9/10 girls championships Hayley White took out the freestyle and breaststroke while Harriet Balcomb won the butterfly and Amelia Holmes took out the backstroke title.
In the 11/12 years age group Bailey Cain was the dominant boy as he took the 100m championships in freestyle, butterfly and backstroke while Tim Middleton took out the breaststroke.
In the 11/12 years girls Alicia Earsman won the 100m backstroke, butterfly and breaststroke, while Erica Blanch took out the freestyle championship.
The 13/14 years showed a little more specialisation as Jayden Brown took out the freestyle and butterfly championships while Lachlan Clulow took out the breaststroke and Isaac Beath triumphed in the backstroke.
Madison Vitnell made it a clean sweep in the 13/14 years girls championships as she took out the championships in freestyle, butterfly, backstroke and breaststroke.
In the 15/16years boys championships Brydon Hughes took out the freestyle, and backstroke while Elijah Beath took out the breaststroke and there were no competitors in the butterfly.
The girls 15/16 championships went to the versatile Peta Edwards who took out the four strokes in her age group and then backed up and took out the girls open championships as well, well done Peta.
Winners of the open championships for boys were Brydon Hughes in the freestyle, Isaac Beath in the backstroke, Josh Flannery in the butterfly and Nigel Roberts in the breaststroke.
Adelaide Ellis won the 10 years and under girls 200m freestyle while Jayden Brown and Madison Vitnell took out the open 200m championships.
The marathon Open 400m freestyle championships went to Josh Flannery and Peta Edwards.
The final championship winners were the medley where the 10 years and under went to Matt Harrison and Amelia Holmes while Jayden Brown and Madison Vitnell took out the open medley titles.
A special note from Presentation night came when Hannah Roth was recognised by Central Western Districts Swimming Association for breaking the 13 years girls 100m breaststroke record in a time of 92.33 seconds. Well done Hannah.
The new committee for swimming club season 2009/ 10 is as follows: President Kim Roberts, Vice President Leanne Flannery, Secretary Leanne Harrison, Treasurer Angela Ellis, Registrar Vanessa Fagan, Race Secretaries Lynne Russell and Robyn Coady, Publicity Lynne Russell and Pointscore Tony Beath.
Outgoing President Julie Middleton thanked all those who had made the 08/09 season such a success: Cheryl for making the pool area such a welcoming place, Mark Edwards, Lachlan Patterson and the club captains for training the swimmers to such excellence; and the parents and grand parents for helping out each Friday night whether the weather was boiling hot or freezing cold.
Thanks go to the retiring committee members, Julie Middleton, Donna Beath and Victoria Patterson for all the efforts in running swimming club over the last three years.
