For the first time in a number of seasons Swimming Club didn’t run a relay as the approaching thunderstorm was too close for Jarrod’s comfort.

However, before the relay cancellation the heats managed to be squeezed in just before the heavens erupted.

At the beginning of the night it was the younger swimmers who led the way as Lydia Coady smashed her freestyle best by 11 seconds while Harry Coady continued to bring his time down as he took 8 seconds from his previous best time.

Sam Coady and Sam Durkin both swam 5 seconds faster than before while Gabby Clements, Xavier Lynch and Tori McKay all dropped their times by 3 seconds.

One second improvements came from Josie Clements, Millie Skene, Hannah Johnson, Olivia and Peter McNamara and these swimmers were still eligible for the semis.

Molly Grant took a second off her time in the semi’s but it was to be a McNamara final.

Half of the final six swimmers were from the McNamara clan as Michael was in lane one, Olivia in lane three and Peter in lane five.

In a close final where only a second separated first from second Olivia McNamara triumphed over older brother Peter in a personal best time of 29 seconds.

Isobelle Lynch led the way as she sliced a massive 10 seconds of her time for the lap of breaststroke; Molly Grant dropped her time by 4 seconds before Gabby Clements, Olivia McNamara, Pete McNamara and Joe Coady all breaststroked 2 seconds faster than before.

Just to show how competition can make you swim faster five swimmers from I heat of breaststroke all dropped 1 second from their best times, as Hannah Etty, Phoebe Skene, Josie Clements, Anna McNamara and Sam Coady finished within a second of each other.

Alex Flannery improved by 6 seconds in the backstroke closely followed by Ella Andrews who knocked five seconds off her PB.

Olivia McNamara continued to show improvement as she dropped her backstroke time by 4 seconds while Isobelle Lynch swam 3 seconds faster than before.

Heat 6 was the belly flop heat and Ellis Hawker took home the certificate with a belly-reddening-water-cracking flop.

Xavier Lynch and Georgie Fisher dropped their times by 2 seconds in the backstroke while Julia Wright, Molly Grant and Angus Andrews took 2 seconds off their butterfly time.

Just squeezed in before the heavens opened was the 100m freestyle and as usual there were some large time improvements.

Caitlin Brand led the way as she dropped her time by 19 seconds; Pete McNamara swam 18 seconds faster ,Georgie Fisher took 16 seconds off her PB and Joe Coady showed the time off refreshed him as he sliced 14 seconds from his best time.

Laura Flannery took 10 seconds off her time, Joanna Balcombe took 9 seconds off hers while Max Coady and Molly Grant stripped 9 seconds off their best times.

Don’t forget the carnival this Sunday with warm up starting at 9:30pm and the Carnival starts at 10am.

We need lots of things for the ‘Summer’ themed hamper so brings them along to swimming club on Friday night as tickets are being sold down the street on Saturday morning and at the Pool on Sunday.

One final note don’t forget to enter your team for the Business House relay.
