Firstly, a welcome to all new swimmers, It was fantastic to see 32 new swimmers in time trials for the freestyle the committee hopes you all enjoy the 2009-10 swimming season with Canowindra Swimming Club.
It was particularly encouraging to see the increase in adult swimmers who are always welcome to Canowindra Swimming Club.
An apology to all those swimmers who wanted to have a relay as the usual first night disorganisation led to it being cancelled.
This week could any freestyle swimmer who wants to swim in the relay let the marshaller know before you swim your 33m freestyle heat an your name will be recorded in the relay line up.
Improvers in the freestyle were led by Amelia Hickman and Adelaide Ellis who slashed six seconds from their times and were ineligible for the semi finals of the spoon as they had swum too fast.
Two second improvers were Georgia Balcomb, Sophie Tremain, Jo Balcombe, Harriet Balcomb, Amelia Holmes, Kevin Beath and Blake Willson while Brooke Kinsela lowered her time by five seconds.
The winner of the spoon in a very close final was Skye Robson who swam a PB of 41 seconds to edge out the fast finishing Nick and Alex Willson.
Adelaide Ellis continued an impressive start to the season as she dropped her 33m breaststroke time by 3 seconds while Blake Willson, Alicia Earsman, Amelia Hickman and Millie Balcomb took 2 seconds from their best times.
In the breaststroke Will Wright led the way as he slashed five seconds off his PB, Millie Balcomb dropped four seconds from hers and Julia Wright improved her time by three seconds.
Lydia Fagan was a powerhouse in the 33m butterfly as she ripped 8 seconds from her previous best time.
So remember sign the book at the pool before 5pm on Wednesday or you may not get to contest the spoon!!!
