Owners Peter and Zoe Kennedy described the vineyard up until now a "local-kept secret" but are now inundated with calls and interest since the media coverage.
A fortnight ago, the vineyard retreat and cellar door on the Belubula Way was the focus of a segment on Channel 7 television show, The Sydney Weekender, and last week received praise about their 2000 Falls Wines Fields of Gold Premium Chardonnay from Huon Hooke.
The review meant much to Peter and Zoe, who approached the journalist with some trepidation, remembering the infamous review he had written about the Cowra Wine Region only a few short years ago.
"We were a bit nervous about his response after what he had said about the region before," Zoe said.
Wine reviewers receive up to 200 bottles of wine a week from vignerons hoping to catch their eye, adding to their anxiety.
Featured in the Good Living section of the Sydney Morning Herald, the award-winning Chardonnay was Huon's pick for Top Aussie White.
"For the wine expert to mention your brand is a compliment, but to be claimed as 'the surprise package from Canowindra' is an honour both to Falls Wines and the region," Zoe said.
Their appearance on The Sydney Weekender, regular tastings in Sydney and promotional work such the upcoming Taste of Canberra, is also generating talk, not only about the vineyard and its wines, Zoe believes, but the Canowindra and Cowra wine producing area.
The couple is also involved with Orange region vignerons in a project promoting Australia wine to the Chinese, with a delegation visit date tentatively set for May.
Peter and Zoe extend an "enormous thank you" to all involved in the development of their brand, after the exciting developments of the past months.
"Thank you goes out to the casual and permanent staff involved in the vineyard; the distinguished wine makers for ground-breaking wines; couriers for kilometres travelled to bottle shops, hotels, clubs and restaurants and distributors, dedicated to supporting local wines and making our region known; and to Falls Wines enthusiasts for sharing the experience with family and friends."
"Falls Wines' gratitude is overwhelming to all who have supported the effort."
Falls Wines' cellar door is open seven days a week from 10am to 4pm. To find businesses carrying Falls Wines, please ring 6344 1293.
