Alex Willson and Josh Trayhurn of Canowindra both took part in the Southern 15/16s championships staged at Dubbo’s Apex Oval recently.
Country selectors announced the Southern Country side for the Country Rugby League under 16s trial at Morrie Breen Oval, Wyong on June 17 following the championships.
Selected, after two days of high quality Rugby League at the Southern 15s/16s championships staged at Apex Oval Dubbo, the Southern outfit will square off with their Northern counterparts vying for a coveted maroon and gold jumper.
In the feature Southern Cup decider, hosts Group Eleven Western Reds reigned supreme defeating Group Nine 22-16 in the under 16s.
The Reds were justly rewarded at the slection table with six players named in the 17 man squad.
In the under 15s Cup final the Illawarra staved off a gallant Group Twenty outfit 20-10.
In the second tier Trophy pool Group Six advanced in both under 15s and 16s.
And in the Plate championship, Group Sixteen also progressed in both age groups.
