Ms Rutter was greeted by a Country Care Link volunteer, a service run to meet country people travelling to Sydney for medical treatment.
"I travelled down by plane and was met at Sydney airport by a very friendly Country Care Link volunteer who helped me with my luggage and drove me to the hospital," Ms Rutter said.
"This very daunting and difficult journey was made much easier with this service."
Country Care Link began in 1992 and is one of many outreach services provided by the Sisters of Charity.
A volunteer meets you at the airport, bus or train station and drives you to the hospital or medical facility you require.
The same service is available when needing to return to the airport, bus or train station after your medical appointment.
This outreach service is provided free of charge fulfilling the Sisters of Charity Outreach motto: Compassion in Action.
"If you are travelling by plane, bus or train from the country to Sydney for medical treatment, don't hesitate to contact this free service which is available to everyone," Ms Rutter said.
Drivers are available 24/7. Office hours are 9.30am - 3pm, Monday to Friday. 48 hours booking notice is preferred but not essential.
The office also maintains a list of possible places for people to stay near hospitals so telephone numbers can be given to anyone seeking such advice.
