Canowindra Challenge Chairman, Arthur Falconer said this year’s event has sparked a particularly strong interest among spectators.
“We had 68 vehicles watching on Wednesday afternoon which is just a massive crowd and we’ve been getting a lot of comments like the event is maturing and improving so it’s really great to hear,” he said.
“People are learning how to follow the balloons and our website and facebook have been great communication tools.”
Mr Falconer said conditions are now looking good ahead of the Balloon Glow.
“There was a hint of rain forecasted but it’s less than a 20 per cent chance and we’ve had a lot of people asking about it and new people passing through town wanting to come see what it’s all about,” he said.
The Twilight Wine and Food Market will kick off from 4pm-8pm, with local chefs and wineries offering their produce. The Balloon Glow will begin at 7pm, followed by a 7.45pm night rugby match. Local dance and performance groups, along with sheep dog trials, busking competitions and craft markets are also set to provide plenty of entertainment.
Mr Falconer encouraged everyone to attend tomorrow night’s festivities and continue tracking the balloons over the coming days.
“There’s a real buzz in the air about the whole event this year and that’s making it really great,” he said.
