There are lots of churches throughout the countryside slowly falling into disrepair as their parishioners move on - but the Uniting Church at Cranbury isn’t one of them.

In fact, the 102-year-old building has a new lease on life, after its crowd-funded renovations were unveiled earlier in the year.
The small community singlehandedly raised the $50, 000 spent updating the church’s kitchen facilities and amenities, including the installation of two huge tanks.
Now they want to open the facility up to rent out for parties and private functions. Spearheading the idea is Len Nash, who said he’d love to see more people utilising the space.
“Most of the old country churches are now shut,” Mr Nash said.
“This one is special though.”
A variety of local groups have used the building since it was upgraded, plus a group of 40 campers from Sydney. It’s got a fenced-in playground, which used to be an old tennis court and plenty of space to roll out a sleeping bag or a swag.
With three toilets, two showers and heating, it’s got all the makings of a great function hall - it just needs people to come along and use it.
Mr Nash said he’d love to see a country wedding take place in the church or to see it teaming with children at a family birthday party.
“I don’t want it to close up,” Mr Nash said.
“It might close as a church one day but the premises are too good not to be used.”
There are a range of prices for using the space, all of which are fairly nominal. If you’d like to book the church for an upcoming function, contact Len Nash on 6364 0265 or David Harrison on 6364 0258.
