After winning his "Mr Athletic" class with competitors no taller then 179 centimetres and no heavier then 87 kilograms Wheeldon went onto win the overall title being named NSW Champion.
With plenty of years of elite sporting experience under his belt the NSW Champion dropped 28 kilograms in 15 weeks in preparation for the event, which he decided on entering 12 months ago.
"Initially, during the off-season, I was doing weights five days a week," Wheeldon said.
"Then I started doing a lot of cardio [closer to the competition date] to cut my weight."
Wheeldon has a strong background in athletics, rugby league and boxing all of which he has excelled in but wasn't sure how he would fare in the unique sport of body building.
"I thought I might do alright," he said.
"It was a bit hard to tell though because I train in my shed out on the farm, I didn't really know what to expect."
Wheeldon admitted it is a sport that involves a lot of training and self-confidence and recommends any keen BodyBuilders to do their research.
"It really is as simple as just entering,"
"But you got to do a fair bit of preparation, and get down to your underwear," he laughed.
