We were driven to 'The Needles' where we began our hike. Throughout the day we stopped twice to go 'wading' to cool off.
At this stage many people had already gotten blisters. At the end of the first day we had walked 10 kilometres in the scorching heat. It was a welcoming sight to see our camp site right next to the river.
Once we had set up our tents the Year 10 boys went fishing whilst the rest of us were relaxing and laying in the river.
However we weren't as relaxed as the teachers who had set up camp chairs in the shallow part of the river with biscuits and dip.
As we were winding down for the night a friendly platypus decided to show his face right behind Jo. After having a good feed we settled down for the night, which besides a few spits of rain and a missing Meg, remained largely uneventful.
We were up early, had breakfast, packed up camp and set out for another hot day of hiking. With a few more challenges including rock faces and steep hills we made it to a nice bank along the river where we swam for an hour and a half.
During this break we bandaged up a lot of blisters for the remainder of the hike. After this break we headed for the last leg of the journey.
This journey was the most enjoyable by far despite the challenges we faced.
A massive thank you to Mr Edwards and Mr Phelan for organising the whole thing and to Mrs Balcombe for camping out with us.
