The former deputy chair was chosen to succeed incumbent chair and Parkes mayor Cr Ken Keith at the group's AGM in Blayney today.
Cr West will now lead the group of 15 central west councils as they partner with the NSW State Government to reform local government through Joint Organisations.
The $5.3 million dollar initiative will see councils work together on major projects and share resources.
Centroc represents over 220,000 people across an area of more than 70,000 square kilometres.
It includes the Local Government Areas of Bathurst, Blayney, Boorowa, Cabonne, Cowra, Forbes, Lachlan, Lithgow, Mid-Western, Oberon, Orange, Parkes, Upper Lachlan, Weddin, Young and Central Tablelands Water.
