A male nurse has been arrested over the alleged murders of two elderly nursing home patients and the attempted murder of a third at a Wallsend aged care facility.

Strike Force Correa detectives arrested the 27-year-old man at Redhead, a Lake Macquarie suburb 16 kilometres south of Newcastle, on Wednesday morning before taking him back to Newcastle police station for questioning.
The strike force was set up to investigate the alleged murders of Gwen Fowler, 83, and Ryan Kelly, 80, in October last year.
They were also looking into the alleged attempted murder of Audrey Manuel, 91.
It will be alleged that all three patients were injected with high amounts of insulin at the SummitCare Wallsend facility within a day of each other.
None were diabetic and it is alleged the injections caused them to become hypoglycemic.
Mrs Fowler died on October 18, while Mr Kelly succumbed on October 30.
The male nurse is expected to be charged later on Wednesday with two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder later.
