Around 30 potentially impacted landholders met with representatives from Water NSW at an information session in Canowindra on Thursday, February 26.
Attendees were given a rundown of the scoping report into the dam, which is available on the Water NSW website and at the Canowindra Library.
Water NSW Basin Planning Manager Dan Berry said the information session was the start of a long process and project team would be working with landholders as the investigations progressed.
"We understand the announcement of Cranky Rock as the preferred site for further investigation has created some uncertainty for these landholders and we wanted to give them an opportunity to meet us face-to-face and discuss their concerns," Mr Berry said.
"We're only at the start of the process. Currently we are working to finalise a proposal for the NSW Government to allow us to progress with the investigations and formal consultation."
The next stage of investigations would involve in-situ studies to assess the engineering feasibility, preliminary environmental assessments, a cost-benefit analysis and community consultation.
