Police have charged a mother with leaving her two-year-old daughter in a locked car in Sydney's south on Thursday morning.

The 40-year-old allegedly parked her Nissan Murano in the undercover car park at Westfield Miranda and left the toddler for 30 minutes while she went shopping.
Police said the woman parked about 10am. The windows were wound up but the the airconditioning was left running.
A security guard rang the police after realising the toddler was in the car, strapped into a booster seat.
Police said the child appeared to be in a state of discomfort and they broke a window to remove the toddler from the car.
An ambulance took the girl to Sutherland Hospital for observation.
Her mother returned to the car shortly after the ambulance left and police questioned her, before charging her with leaving a child or young person unsupervised in a vehicle.
She is due to appear at Sutherland Local Court on May 7.
The girl was released from hospital into the care of her mother.
