However in what seems to be folding out as a season of hot and cold form, the Tigers put in another lacklustre performance.
The Tigers gave Grenfell an early lead, but came good for around 30 minutes during the middle of the game, putting on a fine display of their attacking ability and aggressiveness in defence - taking the lead for a short time at 22-18.
But rugby league is an 80 minute game and as consistency waned, the Tigers gave away to much possession through numerous handling errors and for a team that usually prides itself on it's defence, the Tigers let in several soft tries at crucial times in the game.
Strong performances from Blake Willson, Curtis Hughes, Anthony Redfern, Jake Davis, Kain and Aaron Earsman were not enough to pull the Tigers over the line with the final score going Grenfell's way 34-22.
For a team that has the potential to win the Woodbridge Cup this season, the Tigers will be desperate to find some consistency when they take on reigning premiers Cargo at Cargo this Sunday.

So close and yet so far.
The young Tigers gave it all the second half against Grenfell to come within two points of securing a win on Sunday.
The team started off well working the game plan even though we were playing eleven a side.
Grenfell players were running late and when they arrived we were back to a full team, both sides didn't have any replacement.
The Tigers looked dangerous and Simon Oliver scored out wide to lead 4-0 and they should of scored a couple more tries.
Grenfell clicked into gear after a couple of mistakes and, after an injury to Simon Oliver, ran in a number of tries to lead 18-4 at the break.
The second half was all Tigers with strong runs from Sam Willson, Billy Braithwaite and Wesley Blair making room for Will Middleton and Ebann Malae.
Jake Hogan lifted his work rate and good direction from Jack Grant saw the Tigers wear away the lead to only trail by two, 18-16.
Grenfell hit back with a try to stretch their lead to eight.
The boys hung in and backed themselves to put on another try to trail by two points and were on the attack when the full time hooter went.
It was a great comeback and proves they can play footy in the second half.
Try scorers were Simon Oliver, Sam Willson, Ebann Malae and Jack Grant with Dan Friend kicking three from four goals.
Points went to Wesley Blair three, Billy Braithwaite two, Sam Willson one and players player went to Wesley Blair.
The juniors have a few weeks off now for Rep footy and school holidays.
Congratulations to Jack Grant and Sam Willson for making the under 18 s Woodbridge Cup team to play in Campelltown this weekend, good luck to you both.
