In conjunction with The Corridor Project, it will be launching the hub during Science Week, August 17 to 19.
Funding has been received from Inspiring Australia, Cabonne Council, Cowra Council and the Corridor Project to make this amazing event come alive, explained Age of Fishes Museum manager Warren Keedle.
Science week 2015 at the Age of Fishes Museum Canowindra is entitled "Making waves, the science of Light".
"The creation and launch of a new regional science hub will see the Age of Fishes Museum become a central focus for future scientific endeavours in the region and plans to involve the primary, secondary and national tertiary students with a greater level of engagement in the general sciences as well as specific palaeontology related to the Canowindra fossils," Mr Keedle said.
"The Canowindra grossi is a 360 million year old fish that was found in Canowindra in 1955.
"By melding science and the arts this fish will once again swim in the local river.
"The Age of Fishes Museum in collaboration with The Corridor Project and internationally renowned visual artist Craig Walsh have created a 3D animated image of the extinct Devonian fish that will be projected from the Swinging Bridge into the Belubula River at 6pm on August 17.
"This is a community event and as such anyone who is interested may come along and see this once in a lifetime spectacular."
The Canowindra Lions Club will be hosting a sausage sizzle on the night.
In addition to this event several workshops will also be held during the week for Schools and the community that showcase the melding of the Arts and Science.
The ongoing extension of this event named the "Devonian Billabong is Alive" involves the recreation of a Devonian billabong in real time 3D highlighting the unique "World Class" Canowindra fossils brought to life for the first time. This era has never before been fully recreated as a virtual environment, making this project a world first. The launch event will also be a part of the lead up to the Silos project in Canowindra in the future.
