The two sides' preparations couldn't be any different, the Pythons are coming off five back-to-back wins while, during the same amount of time, the Rams have coasted to the grand final only having to run on paddock once - against West Wyalong in the competition's major semi-final.
The argument is, which preparation would be the preferable choice?
For Canowindra, and team manager Graham Rice, the answer is obvious - you'd like to have the momentum.
Since finishing fifth on the competition ladder, Canowindra have put the hard yards in to progress through their finals campaign.
Firstly, they had to defeat defending premiers Molong, which they did 24-17.
They followed it up with a close 14-7 win in Condobolin and then confirmed their grand final appearance when they edged out West Wyalong 20-14 on Saturday in the preliminary final.
Blayney, on the other hand, earned the luxury of a week off in the first week of the finals, but CSU Orange forfeited their last regular season round match a week earlier, all before they thumped West Wyalong in the major semi-final 41-19.
This gave the grand final hosts a second week off while the Pythons played off for a shot at the title.
Now they head into the decider with one match under their belt from the past five weeks.
"They haven't been beaten this season, but they've had a forfeit, two byes and virtually only one match in the past five weeks," Pythons' team manager Graham Rice said.
"If we can stay with them for 60 minutes our match fitness will show, and I think we'll run over the top of them in the final stages of the game.
"We have to give ourselves every chance and stick with them, we're very pleased with making it this far, it's exciting," Rice said.
The Canowindra Pythons tackle the Blayney Rams in the southern division GrainCorp Cup grand final at King George Oval in Blayney on Saturday at 3.15pm.
