WITH the fate of a handful of local councils now in the hands of the court, I am writing to say how angry I am that the state government just pushes on with their plans despite public opposition.

The move to force Cabonne into Orange will see those of us from the rural council lose our voice.
Those from Oberon I’ve spoken to have similar concerns.
But now the political position is set in stone, I’m wondering how much Orange state MP Andrew Gee really fought for us against forced amalgamations?
He spoke about his opposition to forced amalgamations when he addressed Cabonne residents, but if he spoke the same way to his government colleagues, then they obviously simply ignored him! That’s if, but we’ll never know.
So can we trust him to really fight for Calare if he succeeds in his switch from state to federal, or would he just talk about fighting for us?
I heard Rod Bloomfield speak passionately against forced amalgamations, and he seemed much more fair dinkum and seems to have more fight in him than does the Nationals candidate.
Don’t forget the Nationals are the ones bringing us forced amalgamations.
So it’s Rod Bloomfield in Calare for me and here’s hoping a strong independent candidate also nominates for Orange when the time comes to contest that $500,000 by-election.
