Deegan Hogan, Kyra Fisher (year 5) and Louise Woods (year 6) all negotiated Western Region and will now compete at Eastern Creek Racecourse against some of the best in NSW.
The endurance runners progressed from Western Region, which was staged at Geurie, by finishing in the top six in their respective age divisions.
Deegan ran fourth, Kyra finished fifth and Louise crossed the line in sixth.
Teacher Donna McLaughlan praised the students’ achievements saying it’s been a long time since three athletes have qualified for state Cross Country.
The event will be held early during term three on Friday, July 22.
In the meantime, Deegan, Kyra and Louise are preparing through involvement in the school’s 15 minute morning fitness program as well as training outside school hours.
The school was also proud to announce another athletic achievement of running continuously for more than 1300 kilometres during the Monster Marathon Day – a year six fundraiser.
Year 6 and 5/6 students would tag themselves in and out throughout the duration of the day.
Deegan said he, alone, ran more than 40 kilometres while Kyra and Louise also led the school in clocking up the kilometres.
Congratulations to all those involved in the Monster Marathon and the school’s state Cross Country trio on their achievements.
