The images, released on Thursday, show the men in a lift soon after the heist that was carried out on Thursday, March 17, about 4.45pm.

Montblanc, a luxury watch store in King Street on the edge of Pitt Street Mall, was robbed as hundreds of shoppers and city workers passed by outside.

One of the men, wearing a grey hoodie with a South Sydney Rabbitohs emblem, entered the store and used a hammer to threaten staff.

He made off with cash and several expensive watches.

The other man was waiting outside in a blue Porsche Coupe stolen from Newtown.

Police described him as "a highly skilled driver" but he crashed into another vehicle as he fled through Surry Hills.

The vehicle was later found abandoned in an underground car park in Zetland.

The images show the men taking the lift up from the car park.

The man in the hoodie is described as being of Caucasian appearance with a fair complexion, a muscular build and about 180 centimetres tall.

He can be seen bending down in front of an innocent bystander to remove his gloves and yellow reflective vest.

He was wearing a red scarf and was carrying a blue and white back pack. His right hand was wrapped in a bandage.

The other man is described as tanned, about 190 centimetres tall with a thin build. He was wearing dark sunglasses, a blue and grey jumper, dark tracksuit pants and Nike shoes.
