Canowindra missed two golden chances after the break, which potentially could have reduced Trundle’s advantage to a converted try, and ultimately lost 34-4.
The result forces the Tigers out of the top five with five weeks remaining – crucial games against Manildra, Binalong, Condobolin, Cargo and Grenfell remain.
Playing as the visitors on Sunday, Canowindra’s effort at Trundle was gallant.
The Tigers were depleted and started slow which allowed the Boomers to race to a 22-0 lead at half-time.
Dominating early proceedings in the second half, Ham Tina lost control of the ball in the process of scoring, and a pass from Jayden Brown in search of the supporting Sam O’Malveney was intercepted.
Two late tries to the hosts ballooned the lead to 30 points.
Canowindra’s best on the day in a physical encounter were forward’s David Doran (35 tackles, 12 runs) and Harry Myers (21 tackles, 17 runs) and also Sam O’Malveney and Curtis Hughes.
Earlier in the day Canowindra’s league tag side were edged out 12-4 but put in a huge effort and were unlucky to not score the points.
This weekend both sides tackle the Manildra Rhinos at Manildra.
