Canowindra Pythons
This Saturday’s Southern Division GrainCorp Cup clash between Canowindra and West Wyalong will likely decide which club progresses to the finals.
Both sides boast 22 competition points with Canowindra holding a slight advantage thanks to for and against, but it’s unlikely that will be a factor following the final two regular round games.
Canowindra finish their campaign away to defending premiers Blayney while West Wyalong make the trek to Cootamundra, who have been strong throughout the entire season.
The Pythons’ confidence of strengthening their grip on a finals berth should be high after knocking the Weavels over at the same venue last year.
Harness Racing
Formerly trained in Cowra by Darryl Davis, four-year-old pacer Dot Ayou secured her third win of a 29-start career on Sunday.
Dot Ayou, now under the care of Nathan Turnbull, won the Sue Townsend Ladyship Pace (1600m) at Parkes keeping race favourite Gubbata (Robert Anderson, $2.60) at bay.
Dot Ayou launched from the front row and maintained a lead throughout the journey completing a winner’s mile rate of 2.01:7s.
She’s still owned by Darryl Davis who’s been in the gig for 17 of her starts.
