The Tigers scored at almost a point per minute in the first half going in at the break with a 38-0 lead before a further three tries sealed the win, despite a minor revival from the visitors.
Several penalties aided the Brahmans in reducing the deficit to 20-points at the hour mark, but it never really threatened Canowindra’s lead.
Ham Tina opened the scoring four minutes from kick-off slicing through the defence and scoring under the posts for Matt Mclean to add the first of eight conversions for the day.
Captain-coach Matt Frazer breezed over soon after and when winger Mick Mason scored in the corner the Tigers were leading 16-0 after 16 minutes.
Ham Tina notched his second before Nick Traves, Jayden Brown and Harry Myers all crossed before half-time to further the hosts advantage.
Binalong opened the scoring after the break but Brown was quick to cancel it out when he avoided several tacklers to bag his second for the day.
Frustration crept into the Tigers camp, as the penalty count grew against the hosts, and Binalong quickly posted three back to back tries to cause slight concerns for the home town fans.
The next try shaped as hugely important with 20 minutes remaining, and the score 44-24, with the momentum in Binalong’s favour, but Ham Tina completed his hat-trick and swung the momentum in the process.
Jayden Smith scored Canowindra’s final try while Mclean added the final points to confirm the 56-24 victory inside the final minutes.
The result boosts Canowindra within finals contention in fifth on the competition ladder, while Grenfell slip to sixth after suffering a 24-16 loss to Cargo.
Earlier in the day Canowindra’s league tag side beat Binalong 16-6 to remain in the finals hunt.
This weekend both sides travel to Condobolin to tackle the Rams.
