The 2016 Woodbridge Cup grand final has been run and won in atrocious rainy, wet conditions at Canowindra before a good crowd which paid $13,212 with supporters from both sides, as well as from throughout the Cup area, on hand to witness one of the best grand finals for a number of years.

The conditions of the ground did not stop both sides turning on some great rugby league right from the kick off.
The game started with both sides trying to get on top with some hard fought clashes and solid defence early on.
Considering the conditions, both sides threw the ball around, playing some good rugby league, from end to end, neither side gaining the ascendancy, although both sides went close to scoring on several occasions.
It took 35 minutes until Condobolin opened the scoring, a Tyrell Charters try, converted by Keanu Wighton, Condo up 6–0.
Trundle hit back as the siren sounded for half time, a Josh Van der Stok try as both sides went to the break, Condobolin in front 6–4.
Straight after the break Condo scored a good try to lock forward Jake Haddrill, which Wighton converted, Condo out to 12–4.
As the conditions deteriorated the lights were turned on as both sides slogged it out for the next 15 minutes.
With 20 minutes to play Trundle hit back with a Cameron Skinner try, converted by Lincoln Taylor, 12–10.
Condo hit back immediately, Jake Blunden try, 16–10, 15 minutes to go, which was followed by a penalty goal to Wighton, 18–10, 10 minutes to play.
Not to be denied, Trundle hit back with four minutes to play, Josh Van der Stok’s second try, Taylor goal 18-16.
Trundle attacked frantically but Condobolin held on to win 18–16.
As the siren sounded Condobolin Rams started to celebrate their first Cup win over a gallant Trundle Boomers, who just fell short for the second time in the big one.

Condobolin had a good season throughout and deserved the win. Man of the match was Condobolin prop Adam Richards.
Manildra Rhinos ran out 16–12 winners over Binalong Brahmans in Youth League while in League Tag the Grenfell Goannas, undefeated all season, ran out champions 18–0 against Condobolin.
Another top season for the Woodbridge Cup, one of the more even competitions for some years.
