Canowindra’s two primary schools, St Edward’s and Canowindra Public both recorded attendance rates of 93 per cent last year according to data from the myschools website on attendance for the first semester of 2016.

The attendance rates were on par with primary schools in Cowra where Mulyan had the highest attendance with 94 per cent.
The attendance at St Raphael’s in Cowra was 90 per cent.
Canowindra High’s attendance of 87 per cent was bettered only by Grenfell’s Henry Lawson High among high schools with 92 per cent.
Cowra High School had an attendance rate of 86 per cent, Young High 86 per cent, Forbes High 85 per cent and Parkes High also 85 per cent.
A spokesperson for the Department of Education said parents of school-aged children were responsible for ensuring that their children are enrolled at a school and attend it regularly.
“There will be times when students need to be absent such as illness or family circumstances.”
