A piece of Australian horse racing history could be broken on Saturday, February 25.

Thoroughbred Winx will look to secure a 15th straight race victory, which would break Phar Lap’s race record (14).

The Australian record for most wins undefeated is held by Black Caviar (25).

Winx will be the favourite to win race seven, the TAB Chipping Norton Stakes, on Saturday.

The race is set to take place at 4.30pm at Royal Randwick Racecourse.

Conditions are set to be tricky for all competitors with rain forecast for Sydney.

Weatherzone has predicted a top temperature for Randwick of 24 degrees on February 25, with a chance of a thunderstorm.

Winx, 5, is trained by Chris Waller and will be ridden on Saturday by jockey Hugh Bowman.

Bowman will aim to guide Winx to her 15th successive victory.

Winx’s racing career began in June 2014.

Since then, highlights have included winning the 2016 Cox Plate at Moonee Valley Racecourse last October (See video below).

After that victory, Winx was given an extended break from competitive racing, before returning to the track on February 13 to win race eight in the Apollo Stakes at Royal Randwick Racecourse.

There has been plenty of support for Winx in the lead-up to this Saturday’s race.

A #GoWinx hashtag is currently trending on Twitter.
