Each Year group spent time with Harold and Life Education’s Emma Howarth who delivered different programs to the different Year groups.
Canowindra News visited St Edward’s when the school’s Year 1 and 2 students were heading in for their lesson.
Children were overcome with excitement, chanting ‘Harold!’ while waiting in line outside the van.
“The kids absolutely love Harold, especially the young ones,” Life Education’s Emma Howarth said,
“Harold’s a bit sneaky and cheeky but he’s pretty good still.
“Year 1 and 2 looked at emergency situations and the steps we to use if we need to ring triple zero and figuring out if we should or shouldn’t call triple 000.
“We also look at the importance of medicine and the information that goes on medicine bottles.
“It’s a brand new program. Basically looking at safety, medicine and triple zero.”
Each Year group were the audience of new programs introduced by Life Education.
The five new modules target social skills, health skills and informing students of drugs and medicine, Emma said.
“Each year group has options of doing different programs,” she said.
“The idea is by Year 6, to back up the PD/H/PE curriculum, the students have got information on social skills, health skills and information about drugs and medicines as well.
“So hopefully during seven years of visiting us, they’ve got a whole sweep of information.”
Emma had spent the week prior at Canowindra Public teaching children the same Life Education skills.
She was full of praise for our town’s primary schools.
“The schools are so lovely around here,” she said.
I was at Canowindra Public at the end of last week and it was lovely too.
“It’s a wonderful community,” Emma Howarth added.
