This year saw the club change its format, introducing age group champions and runners up.
During the course of the club championships, there was some highly competitive swimming, with some age groups going right to the wire, with only a handful of points separating first and second.
The pointscore, which is taken over the whole season, whereby points are accrued on improvement of times, and number of swims, was also keenly contested.
Pointscore winners for the 2016-17 season are-
Under 8 girls point score, Hannah Gordon. Under 8 boys point score, Marcus Wythes. Under 10 girls point score, Bella Gordon. Under 10 boys point score, Lachlan Rice. Under 12 girls point score, Matilda Cramp. Under 12 boys point score, Damon McKay. Under 14 girls point score, Georgie Fisher. Under 14 boys point score, Hayden Cummings. Under 16 girls point score, Caitlin Brand. Under 16 boys point score, Kaine Talbot. Senior girls point score, Izi Tanewski. Senior boys point score, Finlay Rowston.
The Championship winners, after three nights of competition are-
Under 8 girls champion Hannah Gordon, runner up Lucy Atkinson. Under 8 boys champion Marcus Wythes, runner up Alex Rice. Under 9 girls champion Ruby Arnott, runner up Lillian Harrison. Under 9 boys champion Oscar Cleary, runner up Lachlan Rice. Under 10 girls champion Eden Hawker, runner up Bella Gordon Under 10 boys champion Cooper Scifleet. Under 11 girls champion Rianna Reeves, runner up Amy Harrison. Under 11 boys champion Mitchell Stephen, runner up Cameron Wheeler. Under 12 girls champion Amber Johnson, runner up Mikelli Garratt. Under 12 boys champion Luke Wheeler, runner up Damon McKay. Under 13 girls champion Maisie Harrison, runner up Claire Wright. Under 13 boys champion Marshall McKay, runner up Jackson Reeves. Under 14 girls champion Josie Clements, runner up Julia Wright. Under 14 boys champion Hayden Cummings. Under 15 girls champion Mila Gower.
Under 15 boys champion Kaine Talbot. Under 16 girls champion Caitlin Brand. Under 16 boys champion Wil Wright, runner up Alex Flannery. Senior girls champion Bronwin Lay, runner up Izi Tanewski. Senior boys champion Finlay Rowston.
The special award winners on the night are-
Coach’s award Bella Gordon, Presidents Award Finlay Rowston, Outstanding Service to the Club Sharon Hawker, Learn to Swim award Annabelle Pull, Girls Encouragement award Victoria Wythes, Boys Encouragement award Harry Duguid.
