Representing the Country Western area, Lachlan Lions edged out Country Riverina and Country Southern in two days of action packed competition.
Western began the competition on Saturday with a 1-0 loss against Riverina and 2-2 draw with Southern before storming home on Sunday with back to back victories.
The Lions scored a 3-2 victory against Southern before securing the title in the final game of the tournament winning 1-0 against hosts Riverina.
The girls finished on seven points, one more than Riverina on six and Southern further behind on four.
The 15-player squad was made up of girls from Cowra, Young and surrounding towns including Grenfell, Boorowa and Canowindra.
Kyra was Canowindra’s only representative in the team, which was made up predominantly by a 10-player contingent from Cowra.
The Lachlan Lions qualified for the Country Cup having gone through the western division youth league undefeated, defeating sides from Mudgee, Orange, Bathurst and Wellington.
Further representative sides weren’t selected out of the Country Cup competition but a number of high performance selectors were watching to get an indication of the state’s junior talent.
