As we all know, it’s not an easy task to pull together a diverse event like this, and without the dedication of everyone involved it just would not happen.
I am especially grateful to Cath Blyth for her organisation, professionalism, and calmness throughout - and also Lynn Russell and Angela Thornberry who, as usual, went above and beyond.
To Margaret Hamilton and the Show Ladies Auxilliary for managing the mammoth task of the Cobley entries; Kristy White for organising the Showgirl Ball and entries; Tom Beath, Julie Fliedner and Services Club staff for licensing and stocking the bar; Craig Lawler for opening the Show (with technical difficulties!).
I would also extend thanks to the judges, stewards and their helpers; community groups who manned the gates; bar volunteers; HASSAD management and employees for the rubbish collection on the grounds; Johnny Lawrence for his coolroom; Geoffry Beath for the use of his truck and tractor; Bryton Wool for support; and the Showgirl entrants.
To all the sponsors of Show sections, competitions, trophies and ribbons, thank you on behalf of the competitors, stewards and committee. Also to the Canowindra News and Robyn Wilkinson for the excellent print and online coverage leading up to the Show.
Finally thanks to the Canowindra Team Penning Association for allowing use of their yards, the Showground Trust for ensuring the grounds were mown prior to the Show, and anyone else who has contributed to the Show’s success.
It was great to see some new faces become involved in the Show Society. In order to maintain the interest, and attract new spectators in the future it is important we continue to offer engaging, educational and exciting displays, events and competitions; and we will continue to welcome new committee members and new ideas at any stage.
Again, thanks to all involved in the 2017 Canowindra Show.
Andrew Holmes,
President
