At Parkes’ Woodward Oval, a man-of-the-match performance from Colts captain Myles Smith led his side to a 81-run win against Canowindra, while Cats remained undefeated defeating Valleys at Twigg Oval.
At Woodward Oval, Smith piloted Colts to 6-186 scoring a game-high innings of 52 before finishing with figures of 0-18 off seven overs with the new ball.
Smith opened the batting with Aaron Halls, the pair putting on 88 before Halls (30) was caught behind off the bowling of Peter Guthrie in the 18th over.
Paul Dunford (26) fell victim to spinner Josh Carmody and Smith followed soon after, caught on the long on boundary, leaving the score 3-130 in the 29th over.
Blake Smith (29) and Phil Dunford (14) added valuable runs in the closing stages of the innings to boost Colts to 6-186.
Carmody (2-46) and Wasim Babar (2-28) both returned with multiple wickets.
Canowindra’s run chase began in horror fashion as Colts quick Phil Dunford wreaked havoc to the top order.
Guthrie (7) was first to depart before Ben Schaefer (0) and Jarrod Nicholson (0) followed, all bowled, giving Colts huge momentum.
Brendan Traves (14) and Carmody (34) showed some resistance, as did Angus Fisher (20), however after the fourth and fifth wicket fell Canowindra crumbled and were dismissed for 105.
Along with Dunford (3-15), Blake Smith (3-22) was the pick of the bowlers.
Aaron Halls (2-35) and Will Moore (2-14) also bagged doubles.
The victory is Colts’ first for the season, they have the bye next week, while Canowindra will look to register their first win.
At Twigg Oval, Cats registered their second victory of the season accounting for Valleys by 104 runs. Cats set Valleys a mammoth chase scoring 6-259 from their 40 overs with three batsmen registering half centuries.
Zac Bayliss (64) continued a strong start to the season, having scored 79 last week, playing a part in a 137-run second wicket partnership with Jacob Harvey (73).
