Benjamin John Jones, 25, was sentenced at Cowra Local Court on Wednesday, November 22.
“The sentence imposed by the court needs to reflect the seriousness of the offence,” Magistrate O’Brien said.
“It needs to ensure the offender is appropriately punished and it needs to denounce that offence.
“It needs to act as a general deterrence. Resolving any conflict by violence is utterly and completely unacceptable.”
Police obtained photos of the victim’s injuries when the assault was reported.
Facts tendered at court say the victim suffered a broken tooth.
“The court is now seriously looking at full-time custody,” Magistrate Michael O’Brien said.
A conviction was recorded and he was ordered to report to Young community corrections office within seven days.
