At approximately 9:43pm Sunday 7th August, 2011 Kate Bracks was announced the winner of MasterChef Series 3, in the climax of the third "episode" of MasterChef for the evening.
Here's how it went down.
THE PRE-MATCH BANTER
In the red corner...
MICHAEL WELDON, Age 24
His MasterChef bio tells us:
"Cooking become a hobby for Michael from a young age, but really took off as a teenager when he would often arrive home late after water polo training."
Proving Michael would always cook best not during, but after competition, which explains why he got so much better in the last few weeks of this year's show.
Michael comes from South Australia and represents a key age demographic in tonight's competition.
... and in the blue corner.
KATE BRACKS, Age 36
From her bio:
"Working with food is something I’ve looked into on and off during my life. Now that my youngest is in childcare it works for me timing-wise.”
Indicating that using children as kitchen-timers is only good for dishes that require six hours to cook.
Finally, the word 'finale' as in tonight is a MasterChef 'finale' not the Grand Final.
From the Oxford dictionary (because the Macquarie isn't online and free)
Finale: the last part of a piece of music, a performance, or a public event, especially when particularly dramatic or exciting: the festival ends with a grand finale.
How musical has your MasterChef experience been? How about dramatic? Or exciting?
