Games against Grenfell showed great promise with under 7s and under 12s having wins, under 10s narrowly missing out by two points in extra time and the girls under 14s and 16s all doing themselves proud. An early start and long drive to West Wyalong always adds pressure to the players and although we came away without any wins, all players gave 110 percent on the day. Under 7s had all boys cross at least once with Lachlan Dunkley getting three, Elijah Jessep two and Will James getting his first try ever.
The girls saw Georgia Kennedy cross for two with Lily Wakeling and Eden Hawker both successfully converting. Under 10s helped Riley Bollinger in for two and Tyler Burn and Archie Moore both converting. Hugh Breen and Cooper Scifleet both crossed for the under 12s with Hugh also converting and the last game of the day was the under 14s. The boys were outmatched but worked hard to get Pedro Tapim across twice and Joel Wheeler in for one. Luke Wheeler converted two and Joel one.
Congratulations to all players for a great day and positive attitude and input to the game. Massive thanks to all our volunteers for their efforts running water, coaching, helping at the table and digging in where needed. Big shoutout to our 2017 major sponsors who have yet again made it possible for us to continue to run as a club and keep fees low.
Under 7s Chris Williams Rural Supplies, under 10s Shearing Shed Hair and Beauty and Canowindra Services Club, Girls league tag Central Motors Canowindra, Under 12s Rob Burn Carpentry, Under 14s Canowindra Produce and Under 16s Garden of Roses Cafe. And our minor sponsors Aaron Earsman Building, McClintock and Co, The Royal Hotal Canowindra and Belubula Butchery. Thank you all for your continue support. Everyone can now enjoy two weeks off until we play next on April 29 at home against Parkes.
Western Region trials
Recently Bailey Kennedy and Hugh Breen made selection into the Cowra division representative team which included players form Harden, Boorowa, Cowra, Grenfell and Canowindra. They then traveled to Dubbo for trials into the Western Region representative team. The day included teams from Bathurst, Lithgow, Mudgee, Forbes, Orange, Cowra and Dubbo.
Both boys played and won three games on the day and made it through to the possible and probables team. Unfortunately neither made the final cut into the Western team but both showed great form. Congratulations to Bailey and Hugh for their efforts.
