Balloons drifted west above Canowindra on Wednesday morning and pilots were undertaking two tasks – both were a Hesitation Waltz (two or more targets are declared but the pilot only has to choose one to mark.)

Michael Poulsen edged out competition leader Clement Seigot in the first task before Edward Saunders trumped the field ahead of Andrew Robertson in task two.

Seigot’s marker was fourth closest to the target and he recorded a further 779 points to keep him clear at the top of the standings on 5260 points, 995 points clear of Steve Buckley.

Wednesday afternoon’s competition flight was abandoned.

Tuesday afternoon’s Hare and Hounds task was won by Buckley ahead of Seigot and Robertson.

This task involves a non-competitive balloon (hare) launching 10 to 15 minutes before the competition balloons (hounds). The hounds don’t have to copy it’s flight pattern but ultimately have to drop a marker as close to the hare’s landing spot as possible.

Canowindra pilots Adam Barrow, Steve Campbell and Anton Kerr missed out on the placing during Wednesday’s tasks.

Barrow remains in a steady position sitting sixth on 3547 points.

Campbell is seventh on 3539 and Kerr is 13th on 2004 points.

Official standings after Wednesday, six tasks completed-

1 Clément Seigot (1) 5 260

2 Steve Buckley (9) 4 265

3 Andrew Robertson (3) 4 054

Les Springett (4) 3 836

5 Edward Saunders (14) 3 689
