Cabonne residents and ratepayers will not just vote for 12 councillors from the 14 candidates sitting at this weekend’s council elections.

They will also be asked to vote on a referendum question as well as electing their new council when they go to the polls on September 9.
Electors will be asked to decide whether the council reduces its councillor numbers from 12 to nine for the council’s next term in three years’ time.
Eligible voters must vote YES if they support or NO if they oppose the question.
If the referendum question is passed, the reduction in councillor numbers will take effect from the Local Government elections in 2020.
Voters will receive the referendum question along with their ballot papers for next month’s Cabonne Council ballot where they will be asked to select the new 12-person council, which will serve from 2017 to 2020.
The following polling places will be open from 8am to 6pm on September 9 - Borenore Public School; Bowen Public School; Canobolas Public School; Canowindra High school; Cargo Public School; Cudal Public School; Cumnock Community Centre; Eugowra Public School; Manildra Soldiers Memorial Hall; Molong Community Hall; Mullion Creek Public School; Nashdale Public School; Orange High School; Spring Hill Public School; Spring Terrace Public School; Yeoval Central School; and Sydney Town Hall.
If you cannot vote on election day, you can vote early at the following pre-poll venues at Molong Council Chambers, 99-101 Bank Street Molong NSW 2866 and; Orange Region Returning Officer’s Office, 123-125 Moulder Street Orange NSW 2800.
Pre-poll voting is available until 5pm Friday, September 8.
