Ms Blyth said the committee had received waves of positive feedback in the wake of the 116th annual show, unfolding at the showground from Friday, September 22 to Saturday, September 23.
The return of the tractor pull and the amount of entrants in the prime lambs and sheep exhibits were some of the highlights touched on by Ms Blyth, as well as the highly anticipated trick riding performances by Alicia Bourke from R.A.C.E Entertainment.
“The most significant things were the prime lambs and sheep sections. The numbers we had exceeded our expectations and the tractor pull had a huge crowd throughout Saturday,” Ms Blyth said.
“The trick riding was really popular among the kids. She spent time after with the children and is looking at returning and doing some demonstrations for pony club.”
Horse numbers were impressive for two days of showjumping, all sections in the pavilion were well supported and while there isn’t a confirmed figure as to how many went through the gate, Ms Blyth firmly labelled the two days a success.
“We’re looking forward to making it bigger and better next year,” she said.
Canowindra’s Showgirl for 2017 was awarded to Jen Holmes and the Junior Showgirl was taken out by Canowindra High School student Tess Frecklington.
In attendance was Federal Member for Calare Andrew Gee who, on a post on his Facebook page, congratulated Canowindra’s Show committee on a “job well done”.
“You can’t beat a country show,” the post included.
“He really enjoyed the locals’ arts, crafts and woodwork examples submitted by local kids,” Ms Blyth added.
“He was extremely impressed.”
