A suspended driver who was caught behind the wheel and charged with a number of driving offences has been sentenced in his absence at Cowra Local Court.
Damien John Giles, 30, of Rodd Street, Canowindra, was facing charges of drive suspended, use unregistered vehicle, use uninsured vehicle and use vehicle without tax paid.
In total, Giles was fined $2100 and disqualified from driving for 12 months.
At court, in relation to Giles failing to appear, Magistrate Michael Crompton said he was “satisfied” Giles was aware of his court date on Wednesday, October 4.
Police facts tendered at court reveal that Giles was stopped by police on Gaskill Street about 11.40am on Friday, August 20.
Police checks found Giles’ licence was suspended.
Further checks found the vehicle unregistered, uninsured and also without tax paid.
