The 19-year-old finished second with his first career drive when Allnight Mlady came close in the Alan Taylor Veterinary Surgeon Pace (2000m) at Blayney Paceway on Sunday, November 12.
He has now had two drives for two second place finishes, both aboard Allnight Mlady.
His second race was also at Blayney and Allnight Mlady again came close in the Tatteralls Hotel/Bernadi Market Place/Blayney Concrete Pace (2000m) one week later.
Finn drives for one of the region’s leading trainers in Bernie Hewitt who is based at Georges Plains.
Finn’s been working with Hewitt for roughly five years, attending his stable after school and on weekends, however recently he got his licence and secured a few drives.
He will be aboard Allnight Mlady again on Wednesday night at the Bathurst Paceway in race one – the Lexus of Dubbo Pace (1730m).
Hewitt features on stablemate Gunna Cullect while Canowindra harness racing product Mat Rue drives Beauty Bound from the inside gate.
Rue is married to Hewitt’s daughter Gemma, who is also a trainer in the harness racing industry, in a further link to Canowindra.
Finn picked up the Bathurst Harness Racing Club’s encouragement award at the awards night on October 13.
He turns 20 years old this Thursday. Racing starts this Wednesday night at Bathurst from 6.08pm.
