Kay Gorringe has won first prize in the River Bank Gallery’s 1824 Art Competition, with her painting of a kookaburra winning $500 that was donated by Eddy's of Canowindra.

The painting also took out the People’s Choice Award and was sold only days into the exhibition, which ran from Sunday, November 25 until Christmas last year.
The staff at River Bank Gallery would like to thank the team at Coco Harvest for “adjudicating and counting the final votes - make sure you pop over to see their amazing range of chocolates, nougats, sweets and more!”
Birds were a very popular theme among entrants in the exhibition, with Rebecca Lord’s work of a galah taking out second prize.

Dalla Nyberg’s painting of a blue wren finished in third place.
“Congratulations to all entrants,” the team from the River Bank Gallery said.
“We received so many kind words and praise for the variety of works in the competition.”
The River Bank Gallery is closing up for now however will reopen in 2018.
“The pop up gallery has been a great success and our art space was in huge demand,” they said.
“We are closing up for now but plan to pop up again in the near future.”
