The main focus of police attention will be speeding and other safety offences including using a mobile phone illegally and not wearing a seat belt or motorcycle helmet. Double demerits will be in place from Thursday, January 25 till Sunday, January 28.
Highway Patrol is encouraging all road users to allow plenty of travel time.
“People may think that it is never going to happen to them – but unfortunately none of us are immune,” police said.
“Disturbingly almost three times as many people died on NSW roads over the Christmas/New Year break.
“Drivers should be warned that they are at greatest risk of losing their licence during this four day period.”
