The 2018 Australia Day celebrations kick off from 6.30pm with those attending advised to arrive at Marris Park from 6pm, don’t forget to bring along your fold up chairs and a picnic to make the day complete.

Taking us through the proceedings will be master of ceremonies, Andrew Pull, with acknowledgement of country by organiser Jenny Weaver.
The National Anthem will follow, then the Australia Day prayer by Rev. Joy Harris, the Australia Day address will come from Caddie Marshall and presentation of the Australia Day awards will be by the Hon. Andrew Gee.
Following the Award Presentations the Canowindra Cup will be held, a dry boat race for the kids, plus the results of the colouring competition, best decorated bike and best decorated window in the shopping area will be announced.
There will be piñatas filled with lollies for the kids to knock around with competitions being held for both younger and older children, icey cold watermelon and of course the Canowindra Lions Club BBQ, there will also be egg and spoons and what do you do with an egg and spoon, you have a race.
Ms Weaver said she hoped everyone would be able to have fun and enjoy the day’s activities.
“Everyone should come along and be part of the fun, I’d like to see everyone get into the groove for it,” she said.
“There will be a number of activities for the kids with the big one being the bike decoration competition.
“We should cross our fingers for some nice weather a bit like Tuesday, not too hot but not too sunny, and the day should go well”.
Ms Weaver also wished to thank the Canowindra Lions Club and Michael Britt for all the support they have given the Canowindra Australia Day celebrations over the years.
