Responsible for the running of the annual Canowindra Balloon Challenge, which attracts about 12,000 people to the region, the group is headed by event organisers Graham and Jan Kerr.
“It’s a great pleasure and honour for us to be recognised as the community group. We love what we do, we thank everyone that helps us,” Jan Kerr said.
“We do it all for our town.”
CCI aims to grow the event to further expand the benefits to the community and this year’s edition is gearing up as the biggest and best yet.
“We already have over 100 motor homes and caravans booked for nearly nine days at the showground.
“We’re putting on a shuttle bus to bring them down to the town. We’re bring the people down to the town.”
This year’s event will attract the world’s best pilots who will use the challenge as preparation for the world championships in August.
The challenge runs from April 21 till April 29.
