After starring on ABC program Back Roads recently, Canowindra will be back in the limelight when it appears in an episode of Sydney Weekender during March.

Host Mike Whitney and the team will continue filming in town on Wedensday, having arrived on Monday evening and been taken for a balloon ride by local pilot Anton Kerr from Balloon Joy Flights on Tuesday morning.

On Wednesday morning, the Sydney Weekender is set to film a re-enactment of bushranger Ben Hall’s famous hold up of the Royal Hotel on Gaskill Street.

Organiser of the re-enactment Matt Rice says about six or seven horses will be involved in the half-an-hour long presentation.

“We walk down the main street with the captured police officer then we parade in a circle in front of the Royal and tie the officer up to one of the posts out the front. Then we force some of the crowd into the pub to party for three days, as the story goes,” Matt Rice said.

The re-enactment is expected to begin between 10am and 10.30am on Wednesday morning.
