The teenager recently finished her higher school certificate at Canowindra High School and has been accepted into Charles Sturt University to study Animal Science at Wagga Wagga.
Joanna is a national champion for junior judging of meat sheep, she was captain of the Canowindra High School in 2017 and is a lifesaving instructor.
“It’s an honour and a privilege to be recognised by the people of Canowindra,” Joanna said.
“The small close-knit community of Canowindra has exposed me to so many opportunities that I would encourage other young people to get involved in.
“I hope to complete a Bachelor of Animal Science to give me the framework to build upon for the future.”
Member for Calare and Canowindra’s Australia Day special guest Andrew Gee congratulated Joanna.

“As I go around our electorate in this area one of the privileges is I get to see so many young people do wonderful things in our community,” Andrew Gee said.
“With people like Joanna at the helm I think our country communities have a very bright future. This community is very proud of you.”
Joanna thanked the people who nominated her, her family, friends, the Canowindra High School and its teachers.
